Saving Restaurants and Feeding Families

Family Meal Sacramento is a chef-driven initiative to mobilize independent restaurants to feed people in need. The program is designed to keep people employed, support small businesses, and support local farmers in the “Farm to Fork”capital of the world.

The founding Sacramento restaurants are Allora, Binchoyaki, Canon, Camden and Mulvaney's B & L . However, since the programs inception, we are proud to have partner with over 24 local restaurants.

How it works

Meal Kits

The premise of the program is simple. Hire restaurants to produce “meal boxes” for families in need.

Meal Kits
Each meal kit contains enough food to provide a family with 4 nutritious restaurant-quality meals utilizing product from local purveyors. If you are a school, or community based organization that is interested in our support, please email info@familymealsacramento.com.
Costs
While the meal kit is free to the recipient, the restaurant is reimbursed $42 for every meal kit produced. This allows restaurants to pay their staff, packaging, and purchase from local vendors to keep the supply chain moving.
Results
To date, Family Meal Sacramento has provided over 500,000 meals to families in need across the Sacramento region. Our contributions have come from private, public, and corporate support.
